Hridoy reached 200 for the first time in first-class cricket with a cut through point off Kyle Simmonds as he then removed his helmet and raised it towards the dressing room before celebrating with a sajdah in gratitude.
He remained unbeaten on 204 off 339 balls, having struck 23 boundaries and a six. His innings helped Bangladesh A recover strongly, although they still trail South Africa A by 41 runs.
Hridoy resumed the day unbeaten on 75 and reached his century from 166 balls. He later brought up 150 from 234 deliveries before completing his double century late in the day.
He shared a 151-run partnership with Jaker Ali, who fell for 94 after edging an expansive delivery from Shepo Moreki onto his stumps. Jaker’s dismissal ended his hopes of a century.
Mohammad Saifuddin then joined Hridoy and contributed a patient 87. He reached his half-century from 62 balls but missed out on three figures after being caught at slip off Simmonds.
Bangladesh added 270 runs for the loss of just two wickets on the third day, with Hridoy’s unbeaten 204 the highlight of an impressive batting performance.
