The right-arm quick had received indications earlier that he would secure a team, as Zalmi had contacted him even before the draft to express their interest, a detail Nahid confirmed himself.
Nahid earned his first opportunity in an overseas league outside the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) when Zalmi picked him in last season’s PSL draft. However, due to team combination issues, he did not feature in any matches. Despite that, the franchise has retained faith in him for the new campaign.
Initially unsold at the start of the draft, Nahid was eventually picked up by Zalmi in the accelerated round at a base price of PKR 6 million. With no national team commitments during the tournament window, he is expected to be available for the entire season.
Speaking about his PSL selection, Nahid said, “Peshawar Zalmi contacted me before the draft (auction).”
Reflecting on not getting a game last season, he added,
“As you mentioned, the matter of playing matches is not in my hands. The only thing in my hands is how I perform and how I can further improve myself. At the same time, how I can develop the skills that I control. I am always trying to work on these things.”
Apart from Nahid, several other Bangladeshi cricketers will feature in the upcoming PSL season. Mustafizur Rahman, Parvez Hossain Emon, and Rishad Hossain have also secured contracts.
