Bangladesh pacer Nahid Rana has been fined 25 percent of his match fee for violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct on the opening day of the first Test against Ireland in Sylhet.

The charge relates to Article 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which addresses “throwing a ball or any other item of cricket equipment at or near a player inappropriately or dangerously during an international match.”

Alongside the fine, one demerit point has been added to Nahid’s disciplinary record, his first offence within 24 months.

The incident occurred during the 27th over of Ireland’s innings when Nahid, after fielding the ball on his follow-through, threw it toward batter Cade Carmichael, striking him on the pads while the batter remained inside his crease.

Nahid accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Andy Pycroft of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel, meaning no formal hearing was required.

The charge was brought by on-field umpires Sam Nogajski and Ahsan Raza, third umpire Richard Illingworth, and fourth umpire Tanvir Ahmed.
