The ICC released its weekly update for women’s rankings on Tuesday, with several Bangladesh players making significant progress.
Marufa starred against Sri Lanka, taking 3 for 21 from four overs as Bangladesh defended a modest total of 114 and pushed the match into a competitive contest.
Her performance helped her climb 19 places to 18th in the T20I bowling rankings, the highest-ranked Bangladesh bowler and her first appearance inside the top 20.
Her previous career-best ranking was 23rd, achieved in 2024.
Off-spinner Sultana Khatun also moved up nine places to joint 37th after returning figures of 1 for 14 from four overs against Sri Lanka.
Sobhana Mostary, who top-scored with 34 runs against Sri Lanka, moved up three places to 36th in the T20I batting rankings.
Opening batter Dilara Akter climbed five spots to 62nd after scoring 26 runs, while Juairiya Ferdous moved up six places to joint 96th following her 14-run innings.
Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana Joty managed only four runs against Sri Lanka but still moved up one place to 21st due to changes elsewhere in the rankings. She remains Bangladesh’s highest-ranked T20I batter.
