The Bangladesh women’s team will depart for Kathmandu on January 12 to take part in the tournament, which is being viewed as crucial by both the BCB and the team management in their bid to secure qualification for the main round of the World Cup.
Nigar Sultana Joty will lead the side, while experienced spinner Nahida Akter has been named vice-captain. The selectors have aimed to strike a balance between experience and youth in the squad.
The only surprise inclusion is wicketkeeper-batter Juairiya Ferdous, who is yet to make her international debut. The upcoming qualifier could mark her first appearance at the international level.
The bowling unit has been structured with a balanced mix of spin and pace to suit Nepalese conditions.
The Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier will begin on January 18 and continue until February 1.
Bangladesh have been placed in Group A of the 10-team tournament, where they will face the United States, Papua New Guinea, Namibia, and Ireland.
