Sri Lanka's fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana has been ruled out of the third T20I against Bangladesh due to a hamstring injury in his left leg.
Pathirana, known for his speed and occasional 150kph deliveries, sustained a grade-one hamstring injury during the second match. Nuwan Thushara is expected to replace him in the upcoming match.
Despite a mixed performance in the series, with a costly outing in the first T20I followed by impactful wickets in the second match, Pathirana remained a vital player for Sri Lanka.
The series is currently tied 1-1 as both teams head into the series decider on Saturday at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
Pathirana's absence for the third T20I will be a cause for concern for his IPL team, Chennai Super Kings. Pathirana played a crucial role for the team during their victorious 2023 season.
