Bangladesh thrash Japan in U-19 Asia Cup

Bangladesh U-19 registered a commanding nine-wicket win over Japan U-19 in the ongoing U-19 Asia Cup at the ICC Academy Ground No 2, Dubai.


The openers Ashiqur Rahman and Jishan Alam fired with a 71-run opening partnership to help Bangladesh clinch the match in 11.2 overs. Ashiqur smashed a 45-ball 55 innings which featured eight boundaries.

Jishan was axed by Hinze on 29 runs and Md Rizwan was unbeaten on 10 to claim the second victory of the tournament. 


Earlier, Bangladesh bundled the associate nation Japan to 99 runs in 47.1 overs after prolific bowling by the Tigers. Mahfuzur Rahman and Ariful Islam bagged two wickets each while the other got one apiece.


Nihar Parmar scored the highest 18 runs for Japan and Kazuma Kato-Stafford and Keifer Lake scored 13 and 17 runs respectively. Apart from them, no other players could cross the double digits.


Bangladesh began the tournament on a positive note by beating UAE by 61 runs in the first match.
