Bangladesh in-form batter Najmul Hasan Shanto has been ruled out of the Asia Cup due to a hamstring injury, confirmed by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
Shanto incurred the injury during the second match of the Asia Cup against Afghanistan. The left-handed batter smashed 89 and 104 runs in the first two matches of the tournament.
"The player had complained of hamstring pain during batting and could not field. We had an MRI scan done confirming a muscle tear. As a precaution, Shanto will not take any further part in the tournament and will be returning home to start rehab and prepare for the World Cup," said national Team Physio Bayjedul Islam Khan.

The Southpaw could also miss the upcoming home series against New Zealand this month which is part of their World Cup preparation.

Shanto's century helped Bangladesh set a mammoth total against Afghanistan which helped Bangladesh to win the match by 89 runs.
Shanto has been the leading run-getter in the Asia Cup so far with 193 runs in two matches that saw Bangladesh to reach the Super Four of the tournament.
Meanwhile, right-handed opener Litton Das joined the Asia Cup squad in Pakistan after recovering from viral fever. BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu hinted that there were injury concerns in the squad earlier.
