India wicket-keeper batter KL Rahul will miss the first two matches of the Asia Cup, owing to a hamstring injury, confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar confirmed that the right-hander was aiming to make a comeback into the Indian side after a long injury lay-off. He has developed a 'niggle' unrelated to his original thigh and calf injury.

"KL Rahul is progressing really will but will not be available for India's first two matches – against Pakistan and Nepal – of the Asia Cup Head Coach Rahul Dravid," BCCI tweeted quoting head coach Rahul Dravid.

“Shreyas Iyer has ticked all the boxes in the practice session. We’ll give him game time in the Asia Cup,” Dravid added.
KL Rahul has been out of action with a hamstring injury since IPL. The wicketkeeper batter injured his right leg during Lucknow Super Giants's match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 1.
Following the injury Rahul missed the rest of the IPL 2023 as well as the World Test Championship final against Australia.
