Abahani clinch DPL title after beating Mohammedan in final-day showdown

Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club registered an 8-wicket win against Brother’s Union in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) at the ULAB Cricket Ground, Dhaka on Friday.
Sheikh Jamal chased down the mediocre target of 159 runs losing two wickets in 33 overs. Shykat Ali (38) and Saif Hassan (81) amassed a 111-run for the opening stand.
Saif smashed 81 off 85 deliveries which featured 14 boundaries and a six and Shykat scored 38 off 71.

Skipper Imrul Kayes and Jahurul Islam were unbeaten on 24 and 11 on the way to reach the target.
Raihan Uddin was the sole bowler to take two wickets for the losing side.
Sheikh Jamal won the toss and decided to bowl first. Mohammad Ashraful was the highest run-getter for Brother’s as he scored 55 off 96, hitting seven boundaries.
Opener Imtiaz Hossain played a knock of 28 runs in 32 balls while a couple of batters failed to cross the double figures.
Parvez Rasool scalped three, Sunzamul Islam and Sumon Khan bagged two wickets each for Sheikh Jamal.
In other matches of DPL, Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club beat City Club by 7 wickets and Naeem Islam hit a ton to manoeuvred Legends of Rupganj set triumph over Abahani Club Limited by 14 runs.
