Abahani clinch DPL title after beating Mohammedan in final-day showdown

Abahani Limited trounce City Club by 111 runs in the ongoing Dhaka Premier League (DPL) at the BKSP-3 Ground, Savar on Monday.
Shamim Hossain Patwary smashed an unbeaten 108 runs and Arafat Sunny was the pick of the bowling attack for Abahani, taking five wickets for 33 runs in his 10 overs.
City Club were restricted on 198 runs in 42 overs while chasing the target of 309 runs by Abahani. Md Moinul Islam Sohall top-scored with 74 runs adding 116 runs for the fifth wicket with Ashik ul Alam.
Ashik scored 67 off 94 balls aided by 4 fours and a six. Apart from Sunny, Saif Uddin picked up a couple of wickets and Tanvir Islam, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat took one wicket each.
After being invited to bat first, Mohammedan set a huge target of 310 runs. Shamim hit a ton and remained unbeaten on 108 off 66 deliveries with 13 fours and four sixes.
Mohammad Naim (37), Yowhid Hridoy (46) and Jaker Ali Anik scored 65 for Abahani.
For City, Jawad Royen scalped two, Abdul Halim, Moinul Islam and Sohall took one apiece.
In other matches, Gazi Group Cricketers registered 86 run win against Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity as Prime Bank Cricket Club beat Legends of Rupganj by 4 wickets.
