Pakistan veteran all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez is set to play in this year’s Dhaka Premier League (DPL) for Mohammedan Sporting Club (MSC).
The DPL franchisees will be able to sign one overseas cricketer to their team. AGM Sabbir, assistant chairman of the Mohammedan Cricket Committee revealed that they enlisted Hafeez on the recommendation of Shakib al Hasan.

"I have seen a number of newspapers and magazines have already reported about Hafeez. We are officially saying that we have signed the contract. However, the visa is an issue. We reached out to Hafeez after Shakib's advice,” said AGM Sabbir.
Hafeez will be available for the entire DPL season. The Pakistani all-rounder is slated to arrive in Bangladesh on March 15, but he is still awaiting a visa.
“Shakib, Riyad, Mushfiqur - they all agreed and said if he can bat in the top order then our team got some hard hitters in the lower order. Hafeez has the ability to play 10 overs. We have signed Mohammad Hafeez for DPL this year for Mohammedan Sporting Club. I hope Hafeez will reach Dhaka by 15th March and he was signed for a full season,” he said.
Shakib has been granted leave until April 30, now he must decide whether or not to participate in DPL.
“The ball is in Shakib's court. He has to finish. Since Shakib wanted the leave, he got the leave. Now, Shakib will decide how long he wants to be on holiday, and whether he wants to return to DPL. On behalf of Mohammedan, we must demand that Shakib should be allowed to play. What we all know is that he is not ready to play. When he says he is ready to play then the club will move forward and approach the board,” he added.
