Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League (DPL) is all set to begin from May 31. Mohammedan sporting club has announced ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan will captain the team ahead of the tournament which is scheduled to held in T20 format.
BCB suspended the tournament after one round in March last year due to corona outbreak. Excluding the previous round, the rest of the tournament will be held in T20 format with the participation of total 12 teams.
The southpaw was picked by Lahore Qalandars from the replacement draft in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) but he chose DPL over the franchise league.

Shakib is returning to DPL after five years, he last played for Abahani Limited, however, he was roped by Mohammedan, Abahani's arch-rival in the DPL.

Shakib said it's a big achievement to play for Mohammedan, the club he supported since his childhood.
"This will be a long tournament, so we're focusing on the first match for now. It's important to begin the tournament with a win and then continue the momentum," Shakib said.
So far the left-arm spinner took 18 wickets in 8 matches for Abahani Limited, he helped the team to won the title in 2016. He batted in 7 innings and scored 210 runs at an average of 30.00.
Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed, Abu Jayed, Abu Hider, Shuvagata Hom and Shamsur Rahman will also play for Mohammedan under his captaincy in the tournament.
The first match of the day will be held at 9 am and the second match will be held at 1.30 pm. The three venues of the first round are Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla, Ground No. 3 and 4 of BKSP. The cricketers will rest for one day at the end of the second and fourth rounds.
