Bangladesh completed the stunning victory in just three and a half days, securing their first-ever Test win on Australian soil after a 23-year wait.
Tamim praised the players and team management for their performance, saying the victory demonstrated Bangladesh’s growing strength in Test cricket.
“It was an extraordinary victory, an extraordinary achievement. Playing in Australia is difficult for any team. To go there after 23 years and win the way Bangladesh did, the credit goes 1,000 percent to the players.”
The BCB chief also highlighted the significance of the result beyond the scorecard, saying it could have a wider impact on Bangladesh cricket.
“The players, team management and selectors all deserve credit. This victory is a message to the world. We are all extremely proud.”
Tamim described the Darwin triumph as one of the biggest victories in Bangladesh cricket history and expressed hope that the result would become a turning point for the national team.
“I hope Bangladesh cricket goes forward from here. This victory will send a big message internationally. It is not just a victory; it is a strong message. We are all very happy.”
The Tigers will now turn their attention to the second and final Test in Mackay, beginning on August 22, with an opportunity to secure a historic series victory over Australia.
