According to The Times of India, the two boards met on the sidelines of a recent ICC meeting in London and are working towards staging the six-match series in September, subject to approval from the Indian government.
The report claims the BCB is open to hosting all matches at one or two venues, with Dhaka and Chattogram emerging as the preferred options. One proposal is to stage the three T20Is at one venue and the three ODIs at another, although playing only one format was also discussed.
A potential scheduling conflict remains, as India are also due to play a T20I series against Afghanistan in New Delhi during the same window. If the Bangladesh tour goes ahead, that series could be postponed.
“BCB is also fine with the idea of holding all matches at one venue. They ideally prefer three T20Is at one venue and three ODIs in another. Dhaka and Chattogram are the leading venues. Playing just one format was a possibility too. The two boards held discussions on the sidelines of the recent ICC meet in London. India’s commitment to Afghanistan is a hurdle that was discussed. But the tour is subject to govt approval," TOI quoted a BCCI source as saying.
India were originally scheduled to tour Bangladesh last year, but the series was delayed amid diplomatic tensions between the two countries. Despite recent strains in bilateral cricketing relations, the latest discussions suggest both boards are keen to revive the tour.
