Bangladesh all-rounder Shamim Hossain has joined Lahore Qalandars for the remainder of the ongoing Global Super League in Guyana, replacing Pakistan batter Abdullah Shafique.

The Pakistan international has been called up for national duty and will miss the rest of the tournament, prompting the Qalandars to bring in Shamim as his replacement.

In a statement, Lahore Qalandars congratulated Abdullah on his Pakistan call-up and welcomed Shamim to the franchise.

"Lahore Qalandars congratulate Abdullah on his national call-up and wish him every success in Pakistan colours. The franchise also extends a warm welcome to Shamim Hossain as he joins the Qalandars family," the franchise said.

Lahore are currently second in the Global Super League standings with four points from three matches. They began the tournament with victories over Perth Scorchers XI and Desert Vipers before suffering their first defeat against Guyana Amazon Warriors.
