The issue resurfaced during a press conference ahead of the upcoming ODI series against Pakistan, where the Bangladesh captain was asked about the long-standing accusation from some fans.
Miraz said he is not overly concerned about his individual performances, acknowledging that expectations around him are high.
“I’m not worried about my performance. Since the last World Cup we have played around 15 ODIs with long gaps between matches. People expect me to win many games for the team, and maybe that hasn’t happened yet,” he said.
“My performances have been average, but I will try my best to win matches for the team.”
The all-rounder added that he is ready to bat in any position if it benefits the team. “I never think about myself. I always try to perform according to the team’s needs and help the team win. My priority is always the team’s success,” he said.
Highlighting the importance of his all-round role, Miraz noted that he is trying to contribute with both bat and ball. He also indicated a preference to settle at number seven in the batting order, citing his experience of playing with lower-order batters.
“I have played in this role for eight to nine years and gained valuable experience batting with the bowlers. If I bat at number seven, it could be more helpful for the team,” he said, adding that although he had success higher up the order earlier in his career, the team did not always win those matches.
