The clarification comes after reports from Bangladesh suggested that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had proposed exchanging groups with Ireland to avoid travelling to India.
A Cricket Ireland official told Cricbuzz that they have received firm assurances from the ICC that the original schedule will remain unchanged, confirming that Ireland will play their Group C matches in Sri Lanka.
Ireland are grouped alongside co-hosts Sri Lanka, Australia, Zimbabwe and Oman, while Bangladesh are placed in Group B with West Indies, England, Nepal and Italy, with their matches scheduled in Kolkata and Mumbai.
BCB raised the group-swap proposal during a meeting with the ICC in Dhaka, describing it as a potential solution requiring minimal logistical adjustments.
