President Droupadi Murmu presented the award at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in recognition of his exceptional achievements in cricket.
The Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar is awarded annually to children aged between five and 18 for outstanding contributions across various fields, including bravery, art and culture, innovation, science and technology, social service, and sports.
While the honour marked a major milestone in Suryavanshi’s young career, it also meant he was unavailable for Bihar’s ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Manipur.
The left-handed batter will miss the remainder of the 2025–26 Vijay Hazare Trophy season, despite making headlines earlier this week with a sensational record-breaking knock of 190 runs. Suryavanshi also serves as the vice-captain of the Bihar side.
Following the ceremony in New Delhi, Suryavanshi is set to join the India Under-19 squad for a conditioning camp in Bengaluru.
