Bangladesh’s passage to the Super Four was confirmed after Sri Lanka beat Afghanistan by six wickets in the final Group B clash.

The Tigers now brace for a challenging run, with Sri Lanka, India, and Pakistan lined up as opponents, including two matches on consecutive days, a challenge unique to Bangladesh in this stage.

Bangladesh will play their first Super Four match just a day later, on September 20, against Sri Lanka at the Dubai International Stadium. After that fixture, Litton Das’ side will get a short break before facing India on September 24 and then Pakistan in the next day.

Despite the difficult fixture, pace bowling coach Shaun Tait isn’t concerned.

“We just have to accept the situation. That’s the schedule. We’ll train and then play the next day. In modern cricket, we’ve got recovery, data, strength and conditioning coaches. We’ll try to give our best. Personally, I don’t think much about it. This is international cricket, this is the schedule. We’ll move forward and hopefully play good cricket,” said Tait in the pre-match press conference on Friday.

On September 20, Bangladesh will open their Super Four campaign against Sri Lanka in Dubai.

The Tigers had struggled against the same opponent earlier, losing quick wickets after two maiden overs. But Tait believes the packed format brings its own advantage.

“It’s a new day. The beauty of such tournaments is that matches come quickly. It gives you the chance to forget the past fast and focus on the next one,” he added.
