On Saturday, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will face off in their opening Super Four clash. Ahead of the contest, the Lankans are showing plenty of respect towards Bangladesh.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Sri Lanka’s batting coach Thilina Kandamby said his side are well aware of Bangladesh’s strengths and weaknesses, having faced them several times in recent months.
“We have played Bangladesh quite often. In the last three to four months, we’ve played them about four or five times. So we know their strengths and weaknesses, and I’m sure our boys will put up a good fight,” Kandamby told reporters.
The coach also praised Bangladesh, pointing out their impressive run of form leading up to the Asia Cup, where they won three consecutive series. According to him, Sri Lanka will look to draw on their own experience to overcome the Tigers.
“Talking about cricket, I think Bangladesh have a very good team, and over the last few months, they’ve been playing very competitive cricket. Our boys know them well. We are aware of their strengths and weaknesses, and we will try to capitalize on that,” he added.
“They have been playing very competitive cricket for the past six months, and we know their strengths and weaknesses. If our players can execute the plans properly, I believe we can win” he concluded.
