Chasing 128, India reached the target with 25 balls remaining as captain Suryakumar Yadav finished unbeaten on 47 alongside Shivam Dube.
Both players headed straight off the field after sealing the win, while Pakistan’s cricketers appeared to approach India’s dugout only to find their opponents had already returned to the dressing room.
Even before play began in Dubai, there had been no handshake between Suryakumar and Pakistan skipper Salman Agha at the toss.
Suryakumar avoided direct questions about the political backdrop but described the win as a “perfect return gift to India.” He dedicated the victory to victims of the April militant attack in Kashmir and praised the armed forces for their bravery.
“Our government and BCCI, we were aligned together. The rest, we came here, we took a call. I feel we came here just to play the game. I think we gave them a proper reply,” Suryakumar said in the post-match press conference.
"Few things in life are ahead of sportsman spirit. We stand with all the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and we stand with their families. As I said, we dedicate this win to our brave armed forces who took part in Operation Sindoor," Suryakumar added.
Pakistan’s players did not speak at the presentation.
The two nations had engaged in a four-day military confrontation in April, triggered by a deadly attack on tourists in India-administered Kashmir.
India accused Pakistan of orchestrating the assault, a charge Islamabad denied, before both sides exchanged airstrikes and missile fire. It was the most serious clash between the neighbors in decades, leaving dozens dead.
India and Pakistan only meet in global cricket events, and despite calls to cancel or boycott the Asia Cup fixture, the match went ahead as scheduled.
