The loss has left Litton Das’s side in an uncertain position, with their Super Four qualification now hanging in the balance. Their final group-stage clash against Afghanistan has turned into a virtual do-or-die battle, as Litton himself admitted after the game.
Reflecting on the defeat, Litton admitted that Bangladesh lost control early: “I think we lost the game in the powerplay. The wicket was great for batting, and if we had managed 170–180, the match would have been completely different. On such a good track, if you only score 140, you have to bowl and field exceptionally well. We couldn’t do that,” he said.
Litton also thanked the Bangladeshi supporters in Abu Dhabi, acknowledging their passion despite the setback.
With two points already from their win over Hong Kong, Bangladesh must now beat Afghanistan and keep a close eye on other results and net run rate to keep their Super Four hopes alive.
“The match against Afghanistan is now a do-or-die battle for us. Thanks to all the supporters. I hope they will come again and watch our game” Litton said.
