Pakistan announce Asia Cup squad without Babar and Rizwan

Pakistan have announced a 17-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup in the UAE, leaving out experienced campaigners Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan.

Both Babar and Rizwan, who have been absent from Pakistan’s T20 setup since December last year, were not considered for selection once again. Salman Ali Agha will lead the side.

Star fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, who recently made his return during the series against West Indies, has been retained for the tournament.

Ahead of the Asia Cup, starting September 9, the same squad will also feature in a tri-nation series against Afghanistan and hosts UAE from August 29 to September 7.
