Bangladesh will kick off their 2025 Asia Cup campaign on September 11 against Hong Kong, as the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) confirmed the tournament schedule on Saturday.

Set to take place in the UAE from September 9 to 28, the T20I-format event features eight teams, including heavyweights India and Pakistan, who are grouped together in Group A along with UAE and Oman.

Bangladesh, placed in Group B alongside Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong, will be aiming for a strong showing in what is expected to be a crucial tournament ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup.
ACC president and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, officially announced the dates on Saturday. The eight-nation tournament, returning in T20I format, will serve as a crucial platform for teams preparing for the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup.
If Bangladesh finish in the top two of their group, they will progress to the Super Four stage—another round-robin group—before the top two teams from there qualify for the final on September 28.

The ACC finalised the venues and dates during its annual general meeting in Dhaka last Thursday, where Bangladesh was an active participant in shaping the tournament’s roadmap.

The tournament had faced some uncertainty earlier due to rising India-Pakistan tensions following military skirmishes in May. However, during a press conference after the meeting, Naqvi assured that the tournament would go ahead as planned, though he initially refrained from confirming specific fixtures.
India are officially listed as the tournament hosts, but due to an agreement between the BCCI and PCB, matches between the two countries will continue to be played at neutral venues for the next three years.
