Despite rising political tensions following a deadly terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir, the tournament is still expected to go ahead as planned.
With the UAE hosting all fixtures at a neutral venue and the BCCI holding onto hosting rights, the iconic rivalry appears to be back on the schedule.
As reported by TimesofIndia, the Asia Cup will follow a T20 format and include six participating nations: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and the UAE. The group stage will be followed by a Super Four round and the final, set for September 21.
If both India and Pakistan qualify for the Super Four, they are expected to meet again on September 14, adding another high-stakes encounter to the tournament.
Though the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has yet to officially announce the schedule, preparations are underway, with participating countries awaiting final government approvals.
