Earlier this month, the BCB announced charges against three individuals for alleged breaches of the anti-corruption code during the latest BPL.
Five others had already been charged, taking the total number of publicly disclosed cases to eight. One of those individuals has been declared an ‘excluded person’.
Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, Marshall said, “In recent weeks, we have publicly charged seven people and declared one person an excluded person.”
However, he stressed that the investigation is still ongoing, adding, “There are some other cases that are still under investigation. You may see more charges in the near future.”
Some of those already charged have accepted the allegations and applied for sanctions to be determined through an agreed resolution process, while others have yet to respond to the charges.
Marshall said the latest three individuals were charged on September 1 and have another two or three days to respond.
They can also challenge the allegations before the Anti-Corruption Tribunal if they choose to deny the charges.
