Playing only his second CPL match, Miraz produced another outstanding bowling performance against Trinbago Knight Riders, taking four wickets for just 23 runs in his four overs.
He was named Player of the Match as Guyana secured another important victory.
Miraz struck twice in consecutive deliveries in the fifth over, removing Colin Munro and Nicholas Pooran.
He later dismissed Jayden Seales and Sunil Narine to finish with figures of 4-0-23-4. The performance followed his impressive CPL debut, when he claimed three wickets for 13 runs against St Lucia Kings.
As a result, Miraz has now taken seven wickets in his first two CPL appearances.
Speaking after receiving the Player of the Match award, Miraz said he was delighted with the start to his CPL campaign.
“Alhamdulillah, it’s a great moment for me. I’m playing in the CPL for the first time and have received the Player of the Match award. So I really enjoyed being on the field today.”
He added that he focused on bowling in the right areas and attacking the stumps.
“I just tried to bowl in the right areas and look for opportunities to take wickets. I knew the wicket was turning a little and there was some assistance for the spinners. So I focused on bowling at the stumps, and the opportunities came from there.”
Miraz also praised Guyana for making him feel welcome after joining the franchise as Mohammad Nabi’s replacement.
“It’s been a great experience. This is my first time with the Amazon Warriors, but they have looked after me really well. I especially want to thank the management for the way they have taken care of me.”
With one league match against Barbados Tridents remaining, Miraz is already looking beyond the next game and targeting a place in the final.
“We have another match against Barbados. It will be challenging, but we want to win. If we can execute our plans properly in the playoffs, we can definitely go all the way to the final.”
Guyana captain Imran Tahir has also been impressed by Miraz’s immediate impact. The veteran spinner acknowledged Nabi’s importance but praised the Bangladesh all-rounder for stepping up in his absence.
“We obviously miss Nabi. He was a very important player for the team. But Mehidy is doing really, really well. He played brilliantly in Australia, which we saw very closely. He has also been performing well at the international level for a long time.”
Tahir added that Miraz’s ability to deliver at crucial moments has been a major boost for Guyana.
“The way he came into the team and bowled, I’m really happy for him. To see him take those wickets at important times for us was absolutely fantastic.”
