Bangladesh cricketers are set to have a significant presence in the upcoming Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2026 player draft, with 48 players from the country registering for the tournament.

The Bangladesh contingent forms one of the larger overseas groups in the registration list, behind only countries such as Pakistan, West Indies and South Africa. Overall, more than 650 overseas players from 21 cricketing nations have signed up for the sixth edition of the competition.

Pakistan led the registration numbers with 102 players, followed by the West Indies with 75 and South Africa with 66.

Bangladesh ranked among the leading contributors with 48 registered players, ahead of countries including Australia and England.

However, not all registered players will make the final draft list. Tournament organizers confirmed that only 310 players will be shortlisted following a screening process before the official player draft on June 1.

The growing number of Bangladesh registrations reflects the increasing demand for the country's players in franchise cricket, particularly after the national team's recent rise in international cricket and strong performances in multiple formats.

The Lanka Premier League 2026 is scheduled to run from July 17 to August 8, with franchises expected to strengthen their squads through the upcoming draft.
