Aiden Markram has been named captain of South Africa for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, with the 15-men squad also welcoming back Quinton de Kock, who recently came out of international retirement, and Anrich Nortje, returning after recovering from injury.

The Proteas feature a formidable batting order comprising Markram, De Kock, Tony de Zorzi, Dewald Brevis, Jason Smith, David Miller and Donovan Ferreira.

Their pace-heavy bowling attack will be led by Kagiso Rabada, alongside Kwena Maphaka, Nortje, Lungi Ngidi and Corbin Bosch.

Spin duties will be spearheaded by Keshav Maharaj, supported by George Linde, while Markram and Ferreira provide additional part-time options.

South Africa have been drawn in Group D with Afghanistan, New Zealand, Canada and the UAE.

Although the Proteas are still chasing their first men’s T20 World Cup title, they came close in the previous edition, finishing runners-up after a narrow defeat to India in the final.
