Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Mendis has officially joined Noakhali Express as their first major overseas signing ahead of the franchise’s maiden Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) campaign.

The newly introduced team confirmed the signing through a statement on Facebook as they begin assembling a competitive squad for their inaugural season.

Meanwhile, Khaled Mahmud Sujon will serve as the team’s head coach.

According to BPL governing council regulations, franchises are allowed to directly sign two local players before the auction. Using that opportunity, Noakhali Express has roped in Soumya Sarkar and Hasan Mahmud.

Ahead of the auction, several other franchises have also secured local players.

Rangpur signed Mustafizur Rahman and Nurul Hasan Sohan; Dhaka picked Taskin Ahmed and Saif Hassan; Sylhet brought in Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Nasum Ahmed; Rajshahi signed Najmul Hossain Shanto and Tanzid Hasan Tamim; while Chattogram secured spinners Sheikh Mehedi Hasan and Tanvir Islam. Discussions with foreign players remain ongoing across multiple teams.
