The initiative is designed to provide competitive match opportunities for players who remain outside the existing franchise and club league structures. BCB Vice President Faruque Ahmed has been appointed as the Lead for the tournament.
The league is scheduled to begin in the first week of January 2026 and will be hosted across two venues, Bogura and Rajshahi. The tournament is expected to feature six to eight teams.
Player selection will be overseen by the National Selection Panel. Eligible players will include those who were part of the BPL T20 2025–26 auction list but went unsold, as well as players who had signed contracts with the eight teams that did not take part in the Dhaka First Division Cricket League.
To maintain a uniform professional standard, the BCB will appoint team management for all participating sides and will also handle all financial responsibilities, including player payments.
Further information regarding team composition, match schedules and operational details of the Sonar Bangla Pathway T20 Cricket League 2026 is expected to be announced in due course.
