Hannan will begin his coaching tenure with Abahani Limited in the upcoming Dhaka Premier League (DPL). Alongside him, Tareq Aziz Khan likely to be appointed as the assistant coach for the club.

Earlier, while explaining his decision to leave BCB, Hannan Sarkar stated: "I made this decision with my future in mind. I believe that by pursuing coaching, I will not only benefit personally but also contribute more effectively to Bangladesh cricket. I felt this was the right time to step down, as BCB has recently shown increased focus on local coaches."
