The initiative was officially announced at an event at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday, with the regional trials scheduled to begin in Sylhet on September 27.
Trials will subsequently be held in all divisional cities, along with two rounds in Dhaka, including the final stage. In total, the programme will feature nine trials across the country.
The number of bowlers to be selected has yet to be finalised.
The eventual winners will receive prizes as well as an opportunity to train with the BCB’s High Performance Unit.
Following the divisional trials, a selected number of bowlers from each venue will be invited to a final camp in Dhaka. The final winners will then be enrolled in the BCB’s grooming programme for further development and training.
BCB coaches Mohammad Salahuddin and Sohel Ahmed, along with former Pakistan leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed and former West Indies fast bowler Corey Collymore, will serve as judges throughout the programme.
Registration opened Tuesday through the My Robi and My Circle apps. Male and female cricketers aged 16 to 25 can register until the day before the trial in their respective regions.
BCB president Tamim Iqbal said the initiative would play an important role in identifying and developing new talent.
“This initiative will play a major role in identifying and developing new talent for Bangladesh cricket. To maintain sustained success in the country’s cricket, it is essential to discover and develop new talent,” Tamim said.
“Through the Robi Bowler Hunt, we will identify promising fast bowlers and spinners, both male and female, from different parts of the country. Through this partnership with Robi, we want to create a structured pathway for future cricket stars,” he added.
