BCB president Tamim Iqbal revealed at a press conference in Mirpur on Thursday that match fees for domestic players have been doubled.
“We have collectively decided to increase the match fee for four-day matches from Tk 70,000 to Tk 150,000. For one-day matches, it has been increased from Tk 50,000 to Tk 100,000, while the T20 match fee has gone up from Tk 40,000 to Tk 80,000.” Tamim said.
The BCB has also doubled match fees for women’s domestic cricket. The fee for three-day matches has been raised from Tk 20,000 to Tk 40,000.
Tamim said the decision was aimed at encouraging players to focus more on domestic cricket while ensuring greater financial stability.
“A player who completes an entire domestic season can now earn around Tk 3.5 to 4 million a year,” he said.
The move is expected to provide a significant financial boost to domestic cricketers while also improving motivation and raising the overall standard of Bangladesh’s domestic competitions.
