The National Sports Council announced the formation of the five-member panel through an official notification on Wednesday, following approval from the State Minister for Youth and Sports and the council’s chairman.
Retired Supreme Court justice A K M Asaduzzaman will lead the committee. Other members include Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Md Selim Fakir, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Joint Commissioner Mohammad Nasirul Islam, sports journalist ATM Saeeduzzaman and Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Saleh Akram Samrat.
According to the notice, the committee will review complaints related to the 2025 BCB election, particularly whether the councillor nomination process followed the board’s constitution and existing laws.
The panel has also been authorised to seek explanations from relevant clubs, organisations or individuals and collect necessary documents during the investigation.
Alongside the inquiry, the committee will recommend measures to ensure greater transparency and accountability in future councillor nominations and election processes.
The panel has been asked to submit its report to the Ministry of Youth and Sports within 15 working days of its formation.
The move is being viewed as a significant development in Bangladesh cricket amid long-standing controversy surrounding the BCB election.
