Following the Bangladesh Nationalist Party's landslide victory in the 13th National Parliament elections, discussions have intensified over the party’s potential cabinet formation.

Although BNP has the numbers to form a single-party government, party chairman Tarique Rahman is reportedly considering forming a broader “national government” with an inclusive cabinet structure.

Tarique Rahman is currently reviewing the possible size and composition of the cabinet, balancing experienced senior figures with younger leadership.

As part of that discussion, there were reports that the Youth and Sports Ministry could be handed to former national sports stars under a technocrat quota, aiming to blend administrative oversight with on-field experience.

Amid these reports, speculation emerged that former Bangladesh football captain Aminul Haque could be appointed as Youth and Sports Minister, with former national cricket captain Tamim Iqbal considered for the role of State Minister.

However, Tamim has firmly denied the claims.

“Throughout the day, I have seen various rumours circulating in the media and on social media about me. These are completely false. I have not received any such proposal. I request everyone to refrain from spreading baseless news,” Tamim said in facebook post.

His response has effectively dismissed the speculation surrounding his potential involvement in the proposed cabinet.
