Since making his T20I debut, Hridoy has played 47 matches and batted 42 times but has yet to reach the 1,000-run mark.
Following Bangladesh’s Asia Cup opener against Hong Kong on Thursday, which the Tigers won comfortably by seven wickets, Hridoy scored an unbeaten 35.
Despite contributing to the victory alongside Litton Das, who made 59, Hridoy acknowledged that he is still searching for consistency.
“My honeymoon period is over, as you said. I’m also trying, and since that phase has passed, I’m going to practice. Maybe it’s not working out yet. And if you look, no world-class player can always go upward on the same graph,” Hridoy said after the match.
He admitted to struggling over the past year but remains hopeful about improving his performance. “I’m trying, it’s not happening, I’m struggling. But what I do have is the ability to keep trying. I hope to overcome this from here, In Sha Allah.”
