Breaking his silence during a showroom inauguration event of Remark Harlan in Bogura on Thursday, Taskin addressed the controversy openly.
Reflecting on the incident, he said, “What happened was unfortunate. I never expected something like this, especially from someone I’ve known since childhood. But this has taught me—and hopefully others too—that we must be cautious in choosing friends. Just because someone’s from your early years doesn’t mean they truly wish you well.”
Taskin emphasized the importance of learning from such experiences, especially for the younger generation. “I hope my fans and the next generation can take this as a lesson,” he added.
Despite the off-field drama, Taskin remains focused on cricket. He recently delivered impactful performances against Pakistan, helping Bangladesh secure a 2-1 series win. With the Asia Cup just around the corner, Taskin is optimistic but realistic.
“As a player, I dream of becoming champions. But T20 cricket is unpredictable. Even Hong Kong can be tough competition. And of course, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka—they’re all strong teams. It won’t be easy, but we’ve been in good form in our last two series, Alhamdulillah. I’m hopeful we’ll achieve something special,” Taskin said.
Bangladesh is set to begin their Asia Cup campaign on September 11 against Hong Kong. They will then face Sri Lanka on September 13 and Afghanistan on September 16 in Group B.
Led by Litton Das, the team aims to carry their recent momentum into the continental tournament and make a strong title push.
