The left-handed opener had traveled to Singapore on April 8 to seek treatment for heart complications and has recently returned to Bangladesh. Shortly after his arrival, he visited Mirpur, reportedly to consult with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) medical team following his treatment in Singapore.

Earlier this year, after retiring from international cricket, Tamim had fallen ill while playing in the DPL. On March 24, during a match at BKSP's No. 3 ground, he captained Mohammedan and took the field as usual. However, while fielding, he began experiencing chest pain and left the ground for the dressing room.

Subsequently, Tamim underwent ECG and other tests at the KPJ Specialized Hospital and Nursing College in Savar, near BKSP. Although some irregularities were found, he initially planned to return to Dhaka via helicopter. However, before boarding, he suffered a massive heart attack.

Tamim was immediately rushed back to the hospital, where he received emergency CPR and DC shock treatment. An angiogram later revealed a 100% blockage in his left anterior descending artery, leading to an emergency stent placement. Two hours after the procedure, Tamim regained consciousness and spoke to his family members.

After showing signs of recovery, Tamim was transferred to Dhaka the following day and admitted to Evercare Hospital.

As his condition steadily improved, he was later discharged and continued his recovery at home. To ensure further medical evaluation and minimize risks, Tamim traveled to Singapore on April 8 for advanced treatment.
