Bangladesh off-spinner Mehedy Hasan said on Saturday that they are not taking practice matches as a platform for experimentation rather they want to get most out it ahead of the World Cup.
Bangladesh will take on Pakistan in their opening practice match of the World Cup at Cardiff on Sunday while they are expected to play India on the same venue on May 28.
‘’Both the practice match is important. We can understand the condition better after playing the practice matches. We will try to adapt with the condition through the practice match. It is important as we can assess ourselves as well as can know about our weakness,’’ said Mehedy.
‘’All the matches are important for us and we are not taking lightly by any chance because if we can do well in the practice matches than we will have less pressure when we get down to play the tournament. The World Cup games will be high voltage games so we need to prepare ourselves by giving our hundred percent in the practice match,’’ he said.
‘’Definitely the confidence will go higher if you can win matches and we are not taking it practice matches and we will try to give our hundred percent against Pakistan tomorrow and if we can win the match it will be confidence booster.

‘’If we can play similar cricket like the way we played in the tri-nation than certainly we can achieve something good in the tri-nation,’’ he added as they are heading into the tournament on the back of earning their maiden championship in a multi-nation tournament.
It seems their historic win against Australia in 2005 and their recent success over New Zealand in the last edition of Champions Trophy in the last edition.
‘’Whenever we see this ground it makes us happy by bringing us good memory,’’ Mehedy Hasan told reporter at Cardiff ahead of their practice game against Pakistan.
‘’We have beaten Australia in this ground in 2005 while we have beaten New Zealand in this same venue in the Champions Trophy,’’ he said.
‘’So we are naturally confident in this ground and I believe If we can work hard and play to our potential we can win here,’’ he said.
Mehedy said that he is looking forward to make a name for himself in the World Cup by coming up with a proper bowling plan that will emphasize of resisting the batsmen from leaking runs at their will.
‘’I think as a spinner the most important thing is to contain the batsmen in this condition and compliment the other bowlers of the team,’’ said Mehedy.
‘’If I can check the flow of runs than wicket will fall from the other end. So my aim is to bowl in such a manner that that I can tie down the batsmen,’’ he said.
‘’There is always pressure in international cricket and I have taken this tournament as a challenge to see how well can I play in this condition,’’ he said.
‘’The team have kept their faith on me and must repay them back. As there is no leg spinner in the team I will try to give my best so that it can cover up the lacking of a wrist spinner,’’ he concluded.
Bangladesh need to start the practice game on a positive note as it is common phenomena that whenever they failed to do so they did not reach too far in any competition as their confidence gets down quite rapidly after taking a big beating in the practice games.
