Under his leadership, the team struggled in the Test series against South Africa, and his partnership with captain Najmul Hossain Shanto failed to impress in the ICC Champions Trophy. Their contracts were initially set to expire after the tournament, leading to speculations about their future.

However, BCB remains satisfied with their contributions and is keen to continue with them. Alongside Simmons and Salahuddin, the board also wants to retain Pakistan’s spin bowling coach Mushtaq Ahmed.

“We are satisfied with the work of our two main coaches. We will reach out to them for discussions. If negotiations don’t go as planned, we will explore other options. However, we are hopeful of reaching a positive agreement,” said Fahim.

Additionally, BCB is looking to appoint two fielding coaches to work at the High-Performance (HP) level and with age-group teams. Since there is a shortage of quality local fielding coaches, the board is considering hiring foreign specialists.
