A historic collapse was on the line at BKSP during the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match as Gazi Group Cricketers lost six wickets for just four runs in the first 3.4 overs against Legends of Rupganj. At one stage, they seemed on the verge of setting a world record for the lowest total in List 'A' cricket.

The record for the lowest total in List 'A' history belongs to West Indies U-19, who were bowled out for 18 runs against Barbados in 2007. In Bangladesh, the lowest-ever List 'A' score is 30 by Chattogram Division against Sylhet in 2002.

However, Gazi Group managed to avoid such embarrassment, eventually posting 93 runs before being bowled out.

In response, Rupganj thrashed Gazi by ten wickets, thanks to Tanzid Hasan Tamim, who smashed 65 not out, while his partner Saif Hasan scored unbeaten 27.

Earlier, the collapse began when Anamul Haque edged a catch behind, though he was visibly frustrated by the umpire's decision, believing he hadn’t nicked the ball. In the same over, Shoriful Islam struck again, removing Salman Hossain (2 off 4), who was caught by Akbar Ali.

Shoriful continued his dominance, dismissing Aminul Islam and Sheikh Parvez Jibon in his next over, both bowled, while Soumya Sarkar's direct hit ran out Sadikur Rahman. With six wickets down for just four runs, Gazi Group were in complete disarray.

Tanzim Hasan Sakib joined the action in the following over, bowling out Shamsur Rahman. At that stage, Gazi Group were still stuck on 4 runs for 6 wickets, a scenario that hinted at a record-low total.

A much-needed 47-run stand between Toufael Ahmed (24 off 59) and Wasi Siddique (18 off 77) helped Gazi Group regain some stability. However, Tanvir Islam eventually dismissed both batters, leaving the tailenders to battle for a respectable score.

In the end, Abdul Gaffar’s 26 off 50 deliveries helped push Gazi Group past 90.

Despite Shoriful failing to take any wickets in his final 8 overs, his early burst of 4 wickets in 2 overs set the tone for Rupganj’s dominance.

He finished with figures of 10-3-14-4, a remarkable performance that dismantled Gazi Group's batting lineup.
