Sheikh Hasina Stadium renamed as National Cricket Ground
The under-construction Sheikh Hasina International Cricket Stadium in Purbachal has been renamed as National Cricket Ground (NCG).

Following the political shift on August 5, construction of the stadium had stalled, and now the name has also been changed. BCB director Iftekhar Ahmed confirmed the decision after a board meeting on Monday.

Initially, the Purbachal cricket complex was planned to include a five-star hotel, swimming pool, gym, pavilion, and media center alongside the stadium.

However, after the change in political leadership, former cricketer and selector Faruque Ahmed took over as BCB president in August last year. Soon after assuming office, he announced plans to revise the stadium’s name and design. Subsequently, the stadium’s tender was canceled.
