The incident occurred when Malan called for a run, but as Tamim charged down the pitch, Malan hesitated and returned to the striker's end. This left Tamim stranded, resulting in his dismissal. Frustrated, Tamim gestured towards Malan, seemingly expressing his disappointment. Malan, in turn, raised his hands to apologize, but many viewers speculated about a potential rift between the two.

14 hrs agoHowever, Tamim took to social media to clarify the situation on Monday. "Many are asking if something happened between me and Dawid Malan on the field. There’s been a lot of talk about it, but nothing happened between us," Tamim wrote. He explained that Malan was responding to a comment from an opposition fielder, not him.
"Mistakes happen between two batsmen on the field, and it’s natural to feel momentary frustration. Malan immediately apologized with a gesture, and I walked off without saying anything. The misunderstanding wasn’t between us," Tamim added.
Tamim also addressed the broader issue of assumptions based on brief TV footage. The clarification follows a series of recent incidents involving Tamim that have drawn attention, including a verbal exchange with Alex Hales after a loss to Rangpur Riders and an on-field confrontation with Sabbir Rahman. Tamim emphasized the importance of understanding the full context before forming opinions about such incidents.
"Often, people jump to conclusions after watching short clips on TV. But there’s always more to the story. On the field, many things happen that don’t fully appear on screen. Today’s example is a reminder that it’s unfair to judge based on fleeting moments."
Barishal ultimately won that match, thanks to Malan’s unbeaten 56, which helped the team chase the target comfortably despite the early setback.

8 hrs agoLater today, Malan also clarified his stand in an exclusive interview with Cricfrenzy.
“There was no issue between me and Tamim. Neither of us said anything to each other. It was just a run-out, and I raised my hand to apologize to him. However, an opponent said something to me, and I responded to him. People assumed I was talking to Tamim, but that wasn’t the case. If you speak to everyone who was present, you’ll understand that the exchange was between me and the opposition player, not Tamim,” Malan clarified.
“Look, I played the shot and prepared to run. Tamim thought I had called for a single. It was my fault for not being clear enough with my partner. That’s why I raised my hand and apologized, then focused on the rest of the game. Fortunately, we won the match. This is just part of the game. Mistakes happen because cricket is played by humans, and humans are bound to make errors.”
Malan also addressed the media’s portrayal of the incident. “People love clickbait. They turn these situations into headlines. When Tamim’s name is involved, they use it to create buzz and fabricate sensational stories. It’s completely baseless to involve someone who had nothing to do with the incident.”
Malan also praised his captain and addressed him as one of the best players in the world.
“He’s an incredible cricketer. He scores runs every year, and his stats speak for themselves. He’s been the highest run-scorer in several BPL seasons. He’s consistently performed well and is one of the best players in the world. Last year, he led his team to the title, and if he keeps scoring like this, we have a great chance this season too.”
