England stick with same XI for second Test as Archer wait continues

Jofra Archer
England have decided to retain the same playing XI for the second Test against India at Edgbaston, delaying Jofra Archer’s much-anticipated return.

Although Archer has rejoined the squad after a four-year break, he missed Monday’s training due to a family emergency. The fast bowler is expected to rejoin the team in Birmingham on Tuesday, just a day before the Test begins.

On the Indian side, assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah is fit and available.
However, India may consider resting him depending on pitch conditions, as they had already planned to use him in only three of the five Tests in the series. Bumrah featured in the opening match at Headingley, where India suffered a loss.

England aim to secure a 2-0 series lead at Edgbaston, a venue where India have never tasted victory. In eight appearances since 1967, India have lost seven times and drawn once.
