"Yesterday, we completed the transfer process to bring Shakib Al Hasan into our squad. However, today, we reached out Shakib, requesting to keep his transfer on hold for now. Respecting his request, we have formally informed CCDM through an official letter. Shakib mentioned that he is currently unable to return to the country. Once he is back, he would like to engage in discussions with his previous club, and if all goes well, we will welcome him to represent Legends of Rupganj in the future," the official said to media.

Only a day ago, Rupganj’s chairman, Lutfur Rahman Badal, expressed his excitement over securing Shakib. However, the star all-rounder has been on the sidelines of Bangladesh cricket for some time due to recent political changes in the country.

However, four national cricketers currently in Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy—Soumya Sarkar, Tanzid Tamim, Jaker Ali Anik, and Tanzim Shakib—have officially joined Rupganj online.

The club has also bolstered its squad by signing Mahmudul Hasan Joy and left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam from Abahani Limited. Sheikh Mehdi Hasan and Rejaur Rahman Raja have moved from Prime Bank Cricket Club to Rupganj, while Saif Hasan has joined from Dhanmondi Club.

Akbar Ali, who captained Shinepukur Cricket Club last season, completed his transfer to Rupganj on the first day of the transfer window.

On the opening day of the transfer window, around 100 players switched clubs. Among the notable moves, former national opener Anamul Haque Bijoy left Abahani to join Gazi Group Cricketers. Meanwhile, former Bangladesh cricketer Sabbir Rahman moved from Prime Bank to Partex Sporting Club.

Taskin Ahmed, Bangladesh's top fast bowler, had struggled to secure a team initially. There had been speculation surrounding his transfer along with Litton Das, Mominul Haque, and Bijoy. However, it has now been confirmed that Taskin has left Abahani for Mohammedan Sporting Club.

Currently in Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, Taskin is expected to complete his transfer formalities online.

The Dhaka Premier League is set to commence in March, with clubs finalizing their squads amid significant player movements.
