A defeat to Sri Lanka in the group stage had already made India the likely semi-final opponent.
After confirming their place in the last four with a 34-run win over the United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh are now dreaming of upsetting the tournament favourites.
Looking ahead to the India clash, Bangladesh captain Joty believes her side must produce their best cricket on the day.
“That particular day is very important. They are a very good team and a very strong opponent. We will definitely try to produce our best performance on that day. If we can do that, the result will take care of itself,” Joty said.
Bangladesh's recent record against India in knockout matches, however, makes the challenge even tougher. They lost to India by 10 wickets in the semi-final of the previous Asia Cup and were also eliminated by the same opponents in the semi-finals of the 2023 Asian Games.
Apart from their historic Asia Cup triumph in 2018, Bangladesh have often found India a difficult opponent.
But Joty remains confident that Bangladesh can challenge India if they bring their best to the field.
“We just want to give our hundred per cent and show our performance on the field,” she said.
