Bangladesh captain Litton Das has been ruled out of the ongoing tri-nation ODI series due to a right hip joint injury, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed in a statement.

Litton experienced discomfort in his right hip joint on October 16 and informed the team management. He subsequently underwent an MRI scan, which revealed the injury.

“He reported discomfort in his right hip joint yesterday. An MRI scan was conducted, and the report showed some issues. He attempted to undergo a fitness test today but failed to meet the required benchmark. As a result, he will not be available for the remainder of the series,” BCB physiotherapist Bayezidul Islam said.

The recovery period for a hip joint injury depends on the severity of the muscle damage.

mild strain may take one to three weeks to heal, while a partial muscle tear can require four to eight weeks. More severe injuries may take longer.

However, the exact extent of Litton’s injury has not been disclosed, making it difficult to estimate his recovery timeline. Adequate rest and a gradual rehabilitation programme will be important for his return.

Even if the pain subsides, resuming competitive cricket before regaining full strength and normal movement could carry risks. His return will depend on his recovery progress and medical assessments.

In Litton’s absence, Towhid Hridoy will lead Bangladesh as stand-in captain for the remainder of the tri-series.

Meanwhile, Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been ruled out of Saturday’s match against Zimbabwe after suffering from a fever for the past three days. He could return for Bangladesh’s match against Afghanistan on October 21 if he recovers in time.
