Mystery spinner Aliss Al Islam has earned a place in Bangladesh’s 16-member ODI squad for the upcoming tri-series involving Afghanistan and Zimbabwe in the United Arab Emirates, despite yet to make his international debut.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the squad, led by Litton Das, with selectors including Aliss for the tournament.

Aliss first caught attention with his performances in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), earning a call-up to Bangladesh’s T20I squad for the series against Sri Lanka in 2024.

However, an injury prevented him from making his international debut at the time.

Recently, Aliss featured for Bangladesh A in an unofficial ODI series against South Africa A. He was also named in Bangladesh’s squad for the Asian Games but did not get an opportunity to play in the first XI.

The ODI call-up now presents the mystery spinner with another opportunity to represent Bangladesh on the international stage.

Bangladesh will begin their tri-series campaign against Zimbabwe in Abu Dhabi on October 17.

They will then face Afghanistan in Sharjah on October 21, with the final scheduled to take place at the same venue on October 23.
